A que altura deve estar o móvel de TV?

Warm morning light casting a soft shadow of a low TV stand across a plaster wall

Most people choose a TV stand by looking at it. They find one that suits the room, hang the screen, and never think about the height again, until three weeks of film nights later they notice a faint ache at the base of the neck. It came from the height.

Your neck is happiest looking straight ahead, the way it does when you read. It is not happy tilted at the ceiling.

A screen is one of the few things in the house you look at for hours without moving. Get the height wrong and your body pays for it every evening. Get it right and you stop noticing the stand, which is the whole point of a good one.

A warm band of light at seated eye level

The only rule: start from your eyes

Forget the furniture for a second. When you are sitting normally on your sofa, relaxed, not perched forward, the centre of the screen wants to land at roughly eye level or a touch below. That single rule decides the height, and for most living rooms the answer is lower than people expect. Sofas are low. Eye level from a sofa is low. So the screen should be low too.

This is why an EASEL sits close to the floor. It is not a styling quirk. A low profile keeps the picture where your eyes already are. A wall mount only does that if you resist hanging it where it looks tidy while you are standing. We made that case in wall or stand and in the case for a low stand.

Measure it in five minutes

Sit where you actually watch, not on a kitchen chair standing in for the sofa. Have someone hold a tape at the height of your eyes and note that number from the floor. That is where the centre of the screen wants to be. Work backwards to the bottom edge of the TV, and you know how much height you have to play with.

On an EASEL the TV hangs from the rail. There is no tabletop adding a surprise. The stand's height is the height. On STUDIO the bracket has three settings, so you can tune the same screen up or down after it is on the hooks. Sit, look, then pick the setting. Do not pick it standing up.

Too low is the safer mistake

A screen a little below eye level is comfortable. A screen above it is a two-hour chin lift. You only go too low if the coffee table or the sofa arm hides the bottom of the picture from your seat. Check the sightline. Then stop measuring and watch something.

A soundbar in front of the set can eat that last bit of picture. Keep it below the frame from where you sit, or treat it as its own object to the side. Do not use it as a reason to raise the whole TV.

Common questions

What is the ideal TV stand height?

There is no single number. Sit where you watch. The centre of the screen should be at eye level or a touch below. For most sofas that means a low stand.

Is it bad to have the TV too high?

For comfort, yes. That after-film ache is your neck reporting in. Too low is almost always the safer mistake.

Does a soundbar change the height?

It can, if it sits in front of the screen and creeps over the bottom edge from your seat. Account for it, or move it.

Can I adjust height after I assemble it?

On EASEL, the height is the stand. Move the furniture, or sit, rather than expecting a column of notches. On STUDIO, use one of the three bracket settings.
