Furniture has quietly been getting taller for years. Taller sideboards, taller media units, tall cabinets built to hoist a screen up to standing eye level. We went the other way on purpose, and we think low is simply the better idea. Here is the argument.
Low calms a room
Tall furniture fills a wall and eats the vertical space around it, which makes a room feel busier and the ceiling feel lower. Low furniture does the opposite. It draws a long horizontal line near the floor, leaves the wall above it open, and lets the room breathe upward. The same living room feels larger with a low stand in it than with a tall unit, without a single thing being moved.
Low puts the screen where your eyes are
This is the practical half. When you sit on a sofa, your eyes are not very high off the ground, and a screen is most comfortable to watch at or just below that line. Tall stands push the picture up above it, and your neck spends the evening tilted back to meet it. A low stand sets the screen down where you are actually looking from. We go deeper on the exact measuring elsewhere, but the short version is: low is not a style choice fighting against ergonomics, it is the two agreeing.
Low is honest about the job
A TV stand has one task: hold the screen, at the right height, without making a fuss. It does not need to be a storage tower or a statement wall unit. Stripping it down to legs and a base is a way of saying the screen and the room are what matter, and the stand is just the quiet thing making both work. Low is part of that. It keeps the furniture from announcing itself.
The fair objection
Here is the honest counterpoint: some people want the cabinet. They have a console, a soundbar, boxes and games and cables, and they want doors to hide all of it. If that is you, a low open stand is not going to solve your storage, and we are not going to pretend it does. We made a deliberate choice to be one clean thing rather than a piece of storage furniture. If you want the screen to sit low and the room to stay open, that choice is the whole point. If you need the cupboard, you need a different piece, and that is a fair place to part ways.
