Abstract composition about a calm, unhurried return

Buying a TV stand online is a slightly odd act of faith. You cannot walk around it. You cannot see how the wood sits against your floor at seven in the evening. You are trusting photographs, a tape measure, and a few numbers on the back of a television. That is not a small ask. It is also how most good furniture is bought now, so it is worth doing it properly.

The stand that disappoints is almost never the one you measured. It is the one you guessed.

This is not a policy page. It is the checklist we wish people ran before they ordered, so the box that arrives is the object they meant to buy.

Start with the holes, not the wood

The wood is the pleasant decision. Compatibility is the one that actually matters. Turn the TV around, or open the spec page, and find the VESA pattern: four holes, millimetres, width by height. EASEL takes 200x100 through 600x400, for screens from 42 to 75 inches. STUDIO takes 100x100 through 400x400, for 55 to 70 inches. If your numbers sit inside the range, the stand will hold the set. If they do not, no amount of nice walnut will help.

We wrote the longer version in what VESA actually is.

Measure the room as it is, not as you hope it is

Write down the gap you actually have: alcove width, the walkway beside the sofa, the socket you will use. An EASEL does not need to be wider than the TV. The screen hangs from the rail, so a 65-inch panel can sit on a stand that is narrower than the picture. That looks calmer than a 160 cm cabinet built to match the diagonal. STUDIO is slimmer still. What you do need is a level, firm floor and a short run to a socket.

Then sit where you sit. Eye level from a sofa is low. If you have been imagining the screen at standing height, you have been imagining a sore neck. Height and fit are the two pieces that stop delivery day being a surprise.

Pick the pairing, not a swatch

Walnut comes with painted black steel. Beech comes with painted white steel. Those pairings are the product. A photo on a bright laptop will look colder than the same stand in a lamp-lit room, and warmer than it will at noon on a white wall. Look at your floor first: a clear contrast with the boards looks chosen, a near-match looks like a mistake. Then look at the wall behind the TV. A 65-inch black panel on a white wall is the loudest version of the object. A warmer wall, and wood underneath, is the quieter one.

Walnut or beech is the longer argument. STUDIO skips the wood: black steel or white steel, on casters, if the screen needs to move.

Believe the open stand

There is no cupboard in the photograph because there is no cupboard in the box. Cables will be visible unless you tidy them. Remotes will need a home that is not a drawer under the TV. If that sounds like a problem, you want a different piece of furniture, and it is better to know that now. If it sounds like a relief, you are in the right shop.

Assembly is one hex key and under half an hour for EASEL. What's in the box is the parts list.

If it is still the wrong object

Sometimes the measurements were right and the thing still does not feel right in the room. That happens with any furniture you could not stand next to first. The legal side of changing your mind is in our refund policy, not in this article. Read that before you order if you want the exact window and who pays to send it back. The useful work is still the tape measure, the VESA numbers, and an honest look at whether you wanted a stand or a cabinet.

Common questions

What should I check before I order?

VESA pattern, screen size, the width of the gap, and whether you want wood that stays put (EASEL) or steel that rolls (STUDIO). Then pick walnut on black steel or beech on white steel.

Can I return it if the wood looks different in my room?

Solid wood will not match a screen. That is normal. If the object is simply wrong for the room, the refund policy is the document that applies, not a mood.

Do I need a cabinet-width stand for a 65-inch TV?

No. An easel holds the screen by the VESA holes. The stand can be narrower than the panel. That is the point of not buying a 160 cm unit.

Is this only for people who have already decided?

No. It is for people who are about to decide. Five minutes with a tape now is better than a stand that never quite belonged.
