Most furniture is one material doing its best to look like another: a board wearing a photograph of oak, plastic pretending to be metal. An EASEL stand is two honest materials, each doing the one thing it is good at. It is worth explaining why, and why the pairings are fixed.
The wood is the part you notice. The steel is the part that holds. Neither is pretending to be the other.
The wood is the warmth
The legs are solid hardwood, walnut or beech, and they are the part of the stand your eye actually lands on. A living room full of black glass and cables needs something with grain and temperature. Walnut runs dark and quiet. Beech runs pale and even. Either way it is a natural material with some life in it, which is exactly what a screen does not have.
The steel is the spine
The rail is painted steel, and its job is structure without bulk. It carries the VESA brackets. It plants the stand. Painted, not brushed, not trying to look warmer than it is.
The colour follows the wood. Walnut sits on black steel, so the whole object reads as one low, dark line. Beech sits on white steel, so the whole object stays pale. We do not mix them. A white frame under walnut, or a black frame under beech, turns a quiet stand into a two-tone stunt. The screen is already the loud rectangle. The furniture should not add another.
Why those two, together
Wood alone would need more of itself to be stiff enough, and you would end up with a heavier, thicker object. Steel alone is STUDIO: honest, useful, closer to equipment than to furniture. EASEL is the meeting point. The organic thing and the engineered thing, with the picture hanging in the space between them.
No veneer doing an impression of solid wood. No glass shelf to smudge. No drawer you will never open. Two materials, chosen for what they actually do, is a harder brief than it looks and a better one to live with.
STUDIO is the other answer
If you do not want wood in the room, or you need the screen to move, STUDIO is all steel: black or white, locking casters, three heights. Same honesty, different job. Choose it because you want wheels, not because you could not decide on walnut.
The longer material note is how we think about wood. The form is what an easel TV stand actually is.
