What an Easel TV Stand Actually Is

Beech wood legs meeting powder-coated white steel

An easel TV stand is not a cabinet with the doors left off. It is a different object. Two solid wood legs, a steel base, a screen held the way a picture is held: by the back, at the right height, with air around it.

The stand is there so the screen can be the picture. Everything else is extra furniture.

If you have been searching "tv stand" and landing on 160 cm sideboards, this is the fork in the road. Those are storage. An easel is a mount that happens to stand on the floor.

What you are actually looking at

A Vislund easel has four hardwood legs, walnut or beech, on a painted steel rail. The rail is the structure. The TV hangs from brackets on that rail, using the VESA holes on the back of the set, the same holes a wall mount would use. There is no tabletop under the screen, no cupboard, no drawer. The picture sits in open air, low, with the wood and steel as a quiet frame beneath it.

Walnut sits on a painted black steel base. Beech sits on a painted white steel base. That pairing is deliberate: dark wood with dark metal, pale wood with pale metal. Neither is oak. The steel is painted, not brushed.

The size range is 42 to 75 inches. The VESA range is 200x100 to 600x400. If your TV's pattern sits in there, it fits. We wrote a fuller note on what VESA actually is.

How it is not a lowboard, a tripod, or a pole

A lowboard or TV unit is a piece of storage that a screen happens to rest on. It wants to be wider than the TV. It collects remotes, routers, and the things you did not find a home for. The screen becomes one object on a shelf of objects.

A tripod stand is three legs and a mast. It can look light. It also reads as equipment, closer to a speaker stand than to furniture, and it usually asks for more floor in every direction.

A pole or column stand is a single post, often with a heavy round foot. Fine if you want the screen to float. It does not give you wood in the room, and it does not give you a horizontal line to quiet the panel.

An easel is the floor version of hanging a picture. The structure is visible and small. The screen is the surface.

Why the form stays quiet

A 65-inch TV is already a large black rectangle. Adding a cabinet around it makes a larger rectangle. The easel does the opposite: it holds the set and then recedes. That is the same idea as making a 65-inch TV look quieter. Low, open, warm underneath, nothing stacked into a shrine.

Cables have less furniture to hide behind, which is a feature if you run them with a bit of care. We wrote how to hide cables on an open stand because this form does not forgive a tangle. It also does not trap heat behind closed doors.

What it will not do

It will not store your soundbar collection, your games, or last year's router. If you need a cupboard, buy a cupboard and put it somewhere else. The stand's job is the screen.

It will not replace a wall mount in a room with no floor to give, or in a kitchen you only glance up at. We already made an honest case for the floor. The easel is what that case looks like as an object.

If the idea of an open stand still feels unfinished, the next piece is why we do not make a TV cabinet. If the wall is not yours, read no holes in the wall.

Common questions

Is an easel TV stand stable enough for a 65-inch TV?

Yes, if the VESA pattern matches and the set is in the size range. The rail carries the load. The legs and the steel base keep it planted. A cabinet's width is not what makes a screen safe. The mount is.

Does the TV sit on a shelf?

No. It hangs from the VESA brackets, the same way it would on a wall. The wood is the legs and the presence in the room, not a deck the panel rests on.

Can I put a soundbar on it?

Some people do, on the rail, if there is room and the bar does not block the screen or the IR receiver. Better to treat the soundbar as its own object and keep the stand for the TV. Do not stack things until the picture is crowded.

Walnut or beech?

Mood, not quality. Walnut with black steel is calmer and darker. Beech with white steel is lighter. How to choose is the longer version.
